Baseball and Softball

Dornwood Park is the home of the Highland Park Baseball Association and the Dornwood Girls Softball Association. The programs offered by HPBA/DGSA are recognized as one of the finest youth baseball/softball programs in Kansas.

The Highland Park Baseball Association is a non-profit youth baseball league for boys ages 6 to 16 and is the oldest continually operating Little League Baseball operation in Shawnee County.    In fact HPBA is celebrating seventy-one (71) years of Little League Baseball in this community.  HPBA currently utilizes diamonds constructed on property owned by HPBA and recently acquired Shawnee County (formerly City of Topeka) park property.

Dornwood Girls Softball Association (DGSA) is a non-profit, fast-pitch softball league for girls ages 5 to 18. The purpose of the Association is to provide girls softball and recreational events for children and youth and all related activities.  They strive to provide a safe environment for participation in an organized softball league for youth, to develop a sense of sportsmanship and fair play and to increase self-esteem among youth, and to develop, between the Association and the general public, a united effort that will provide advantages in physical, mental and social growth for youth. DGSA currently utilizes diamonds constructed on USD #501 property but utilize common areas that are Shawnee County park property.
